In this talk, Dr. Andrea Mata will explore the crucial role of family dynamics in suicide prevention. By fostering environments where everyone feels included, contributes meaningfully, and experiences psychological safety, we can address key predictors of people who have died by suicide. Join us to learn actionable strategies for building stronger, more supportive families to help stomp out suicide.
Andrea D. Mata, Ph.D. is a clinical child psychologist specializing in treating antisocial and aggressive behaviors in children and teens. She has spent 20 years in the trenches alongside parents raising some of the most antisocial and aggressive kids in America. In 2021, she founded BrightSpot Families, an organization on a mission to fortify families everywhere.

Liz Baker is the Community Engagement Chair, Board Secretary, and Lansing Out of the Darkness Walk Chair for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Michigan Chapter.

This year’s event will feature LIVE MUSIC, activities to honor and remember those who struggle or who have been lost to suicide, sharing of stories, door prizes, a booth walk, and at dusk there will be a LUMINARY WALK through downtown Jackson to honor lives lost to suicide.
